  • Happy Memorial Day Weekend family and friends!  It is kind of quiet around the house today.  Here is the run down:  Curtis & Sharalee are in Redding with Jeff & Connie.  Jeff said he planned a wonderful day of sheep shearing for he and Curtis on their friends farm.  I am sure it will be memorial... Hope they are taking pictures to share.

Aunt Dodie has her own blogsite.  It is "Dodieorl" (on xanga) I think.

The Thad Frater family has a new pet... a bunny named Ginger.  Joel is sheetrocking at his folks new place.  They are remodeling.  Steve mowed the grass again.... it is real short now.   He also has been vacuuming the pool.  He thinks it is time for the kids to get in.  It is very hot here today.  Anyway, Greg, as you can imagine, is busy making window frames for their house.  Jen & kids went to Dayton Washington to a parade.  It is Dayton Days there this weekend.  Jen's dad lives in Dayton.

Uncle Tom is working with Aaron Atkins help.  They are doing stuff with the tractor right now.  He let Aaron drive the tractor... which Aaron hated as you can only imagine a 15 year old boy would!!!!!  I have been out in the heat laying blocks... landscaping blocks.  Uncle Tom got some that weren't so big that I am able to lift.  It is looking better out there... lots more to do.

GrandPa & Ma Barrett and Sonnie & Jerry were just here.  They left on Wednesday morning.  It was a good visit.  Steve took them to Walla Walla to visit the mission and a museum while I took GrandMa to the thrift store and a few other fun stores... like a victorian tea store and the restaurant supply.  Then we had to go to Costco of course.  They are in Colorado on their way to San Antonio for the wedding.

Well, enough gab for today.  It is wonderful that we all get Monday OFF!AuntieKathy

  • Well, guess what?  You know how I said I had been really sick?  Well, it seems I must've had pneumonia!  I was a bit surprised.  Actually I liked it better before I knew cause now I am very conscious of my right lung.  The family nurse practicianer listened to my lungs yesterday while I was working ( I stopped long enough for her to put the stepthescope-sp? on me)   and she said, "I can't hear any air at all moving in this right lung!  Kathy, I think you had pneumonia... no wonder you were so sick!"  Of course I am thinking, well, I know I am not totally back to normal, but much better... So anyway... she gave me a breathing treatment with the nebulizer while I was working which was a kind of trick!  It is a bit noisy and I am trying to do prescription refills and answer other questions via the fax and phone while puffing on this thing.  I kept laughing cause it was so funny!

The other fun thing that happens at work is two high school girls come in cause their moms work there and they are really a lot of fun.  I laugh and have a great time with them.  They laugh too!

  • It has been a long time since I have written cause......... I have been soooo sick!  Don't know exactly what it is, but have been told there is a sort of flu going around which it takes a long time to get and then a long time to get over too!  Well, I am on the "long time to get over it" side of things.  All's I can figure is I caught it from one of our patients at Dr. Cole's office.  They, of course, come in when they are sick and breathe/cough/sneeze on me.  What I have had sounds familiar to what they were telling me.  The worse part was feeling responsible if anyone else gets it!  I live in a house with 14 people... and 16 if you count the two babies not yet born who live here with us.  (There is some news in the last sentence if you think about it, you might figure it out!!!!!)

I enjoyed reading Josiah's story.... I think it sounds like something that really happened, maybe in the backyard!!!  We are so excited to get a visit from you all!

Holly's hair tale really rung a tune with me.  This is type of experience at the hairdressers is exactly why I look like I do today!!!!   Yes, the truth slips out!  I went to the professionals and paid them to mess me up!  I ended up so frizzy... I looked like Napoleon Dynamite!!!!  years ago.. and it wasn't fashionable.  So I decided I would be the one to mess myself up from then on.  The only hair exception has been my dear sweet daughter's in law who are beautiful beauticians.  They have NEVER messed me up even though I think they were slightly "fearful" about working on mom in laws hair!!!!   I hate to see them in so much turmoil so I rarely ask them, but I sure appeciate whenever they do stuff for me. ¢¾¢¾

It is less than a month away now... the wedding!  I went to a wedding on Saturday!  It was a justice of the peace wedding for some non believers.  The first time I ever did that.  It was lovely and he did a good job, but it just isn't the same for non believers!    Looking forward to Jo & Jess!

  • Ok,  I got one for you:  It seems just the other day, a brother... you know the one... I won't mention any names here, but you know of whom I speak, was laying in the backyard in the grass, with the grass clippers.  Anyway, two and a half year old Joseph was out there with him.  As it has been known to happen upon occasion, the brother, had a little minor explosion (if you know what I mean).   Joseph immediately got a little grin on his face and said, "That was a barking spider I just heard !"  or maybe it was, "I just heard a barking spider!"  Well anyway, the brother lost it!!!

It seems he thought it was so funny for a two year old to say such a thing, he told all to Joseph's daddy... who confessed it was he that taught Joseph about barking spiders.

  • It is Free Friday here in Fraterville!  That means that Greg & Tom are off work!  It is their Friday Free from Paid Working!!!!!  However the work at home still goes on.

Greg is up working on his house, Jen & kids have been in Oregon visiting a friend.  They are on their way back today.

Curtis is working on their house.  Sharalee & kids went up to help a little while ago.

Steve just got back from his walk with Essie and is watching news with Tom.

I wanted to work yesterday for Dr. Cole for only one reason... I wanted to be able to write 05/05/05 all day long.  But it wasn't to be for me.  Maybe next year... I can work and write 06/06/06

Talked to Jeff last night.  They were successful in buying a house in Spokane.  It is a little north of Spokane and a good investment property.  Partly unfinished in a good neighborhood.  He has several job possibilities with new ones coming all the time.  He hasn't settled on the ONE yet.

Haven't heard from Thad & Jen for a while so will call them to see what is going on.

Also, Susan has written and said they would like to visit the first part of August... so we are gonna go with that.  It will be wonderful to see them all!!!!

PS  Curtis & Sharalee got a new car so they fit three kids in it.  It is nice, but used.  They can tell you the details.

  • PS I forgot to mention the pour of Curtis & Sharalee's walls will be Wednesday instead of today.... I think they are all ready which really helps.

  • Today turned out to be beautiful.  It is 72 and cloudless, and a slight breeze.  Sharalee and I just got back from a 3 mile walk.  We paused at a park to let the kids play on the equipment.

I am gonna go outside and plant some flowers now.  Then dye my roots this afternoon and prepare for a very busy day at Dr. Cole's tomorrow.

Found out Calvary got a cash offer to buy the Washington Street church building from us.  This sounds like wonderful news as it will make it much more do-able to start building the new church and school and cafe.... which will be a lot closer for us.  Altho' we love the new Cornerstone - A Bookstore Cafe.  Maybe we can have two.

The Lord was speaking to me about trials and this life is enemy camp and about not making friends with the enemy, cause he is out to get me... it really helped to be reminded.  I forget so easy and to be reminded that the world won't like me is helpful cause I keep expecting if I am loving, etc.... I will win people's affection.  It can't hurt, but it is the motive behind being loving that the Lord is addressing I think.

  • Today is icky out.... well unless you like cloudy, cool, and breezy!  Greg stayed home from work today and he and Jen were up working stacking block on their house.... but then they came home.  Greg decided to cut his house building day short and go to the office.  And there were no known injuries today!!!!

Today AuntieKathy has been working on an invoice design and company bookkeeping set-up for GTF Enterprizes... UncleTom's new business.  He uses his tractor, affectionately called Bathsheeba  around here, for his business!  He is hoping to have some work to do when he retires in a couple of years.

Sharalee just left the kids napping while she goes up to help Curtis.  Tomorrow is the day they pour the main floor walls of their little house.

I read a bunch of Josiah's stuff and I read all about Holly's dress and dancing experiences.  I actually read them outloud to Uncle Steve.  He said you sound pretty intellectual!!!  Don't know how he got that out of dancing in dresses with bloomers, and stressing out about weddings, deadlines and stuff.

  • Today is May 1... It was a beautiful day here.  UncleTom worked on the tractor... He invented a thing to cut a trench in the dirt for burying irrigation pipe.  Joel welded it for him... and today he tried it out.  It worked!

UncleSteve mowed the front and back yard today and it looks very nice.  Greg & Jen & Curt & Sharalee worked on their houses.  Dunbars have their next pour on Tuesday.  It is really shaping up.  I will have to go take another picture and send it out for you all to see.

Jeff and Connie are in Spokane house hunting.  Jeff said they looked at 20 houses yesterday.  Andrew & Ethan stayed in California with friends.

Thad called and he hurt his back fighting a house fire last week... it is an old injury, that he re-injured again.

Nothing else new to report.  I guess I still have a job at Dr. Cole's office.  At least for now.  Bye till later.
