  • I miss my family!  Well, not the ones I live with… but the rest.  It seems like I don’t get to see the others very much and when I do, it makes me want to see them even more.

We are in the midst of preparations for a marriage this weekend.  It is Curtis’ sister who is getting married.  She is marrying one of the Youth Pastors at Calvary.  He is a fine young man… and they make an awesome couple.  The rehearsal dinner is here on Friday night…. for 40 people.  I am mostly helping with babysitting since Curtis, Sharalee, Joseph, & Carinna are all in the wedding.  I will be grandma sitting little Isaiah Thomas.

Also, we have been working on our other house.  The G Way house which has been vacated by it’s former inhabitants.  We still need to paint the front door, and paint one very ugly bedroom.

We should hear about layoffs middle of October and Tom sent a resume in response to a call for help in Louisianna and there abouts.  It is his company, sort of… really a different leg of CH2M Hill than the Hanford site.  So the future is still…. uncertain.  But I hear the Lord’s still small voice speaking and that is of great comfort.

I was just thinking about what a paradox it is, in a way… that the Lord, the Creator of the whole Universe speaks in “a still small voice”.  One would think it would be a BIG LOUD BOOMING VOICE.  Maybe that is just in Hollywood!

Thad is on a motorcycle trip to Colorado for a Firemen’s Memorial with a bunch of firefighters.  We are praying for him and for his family since they are home alone.  Jen asked us to pray and it is only natural anyway to pray for such an outing.

The houses are really coming along… plumbing, roofing, wiring!  All just around the corner or at the door.

Also, just heard yesterday that AMAZON.COM is moving here and will be in the old Walmart building.   (500-600 jobs eventually)  Just thought someone out there might find that interesting.

I embarrassed myself bad yesterday.  Ruthie was trying to reach the top file shelf to put a chart away and she was a little short to be able to easily do it, so I ran to her aid by wrapping my arms around her waist and lifting… then when that wasn’t very successful, I offered her my hands as a step up.  We were laughing and having a good time, when I noticed there was a distinguished looking gentleman sitting there in the waiting room watching everything.  He was from the funeral home.  Full suit, tie and everything.  I had been so focusing on my paperwork prior to this, I didn’t realize there was anyone there… we had no doctor and no patients!  I was grateful for the “free standing” bookcase that goes from floor to ceiling which was closeby because it gave me a place to hide out while I gained my composure.  The girls were teasing me about being red, white, and blue cause I was wearing blue and white… and then my skin turned red.  Well, anyway the man tried to use what he had seen to pressure me into making his need a priority.  His need was to get a death certificate filled out and signed by the doctor so they could go ahead and bury the guy.  I think it is one of those situations where you would have had to be there.

  • Nice to hear the news and get up-to-date on the Frater Clan. We all know that NawAluns (New Orleans, as I learned to say it from the folks from there) could really use some experienced engineering expertise, don’t we? CH2M has an office here in SA.  I know because I met a guy who works for them at the local Inventor’s Association / AKA, San Antonio Technology Association meeting.  But I think their ofice here has more to do with electronics than Civil Engineering.  I do know the manager of the San Antonio River Authority engineering group, though if someone is ever interested in that sort of thing here.

My son and his wife just left for their own a home a few minutes ago. We sure enjoy their company around here and it is a joy to see them growing together so much and really enjoying each other’s compainonship.  Amazon on the banks of the Columbia, eh.  Well, yes, that is somewhat interesting.
