Month: February 2006

  • Today is the end of February!

The sheet rocking has begun!  WOW.... that sounds like some weird kind of dance... just standing there on it's own... without any context.  Makes me think of having a dance party where everyone comes dressed in sheets.  You're invited!

With some modification, I am back up and running at the FraterFactory.  I have promises from my son that he will give me some more time to try to make good on the old Workhorse.  It has a new heart, a new brain, fresh blood and a new set of eyes... but it still needs some legs to get going.  So thank God for the new refurbished machine that was bought on a whim at Costco a couple weeks back.  It has been a good iron lung for the Factory.

But would you believe it was a missing font that took much time to get a job finished?  I searched high and lo for it.  Found it online for $24.  But you know... I never bought it out right before.... so it must've come with some other software or something.

My mouth needs a new bridge.  The old one is crumbling.  I think it had poor footings from the start.  Now, unlike my lil sis... going to the dentist allows me to totally relax.  And I don't like the numbing stuff either.  Well, and the bill isn't too sweet.  The weird thing is that the part that needs fixing doesn't hurt at all, no problems at all... it is the opposite side of my mouth that hurts and there is nothing found lacking in that area.   But my "gums are very, very healthy!"  So if the teeth go... at least I am comforted with the fact that I can easily gum my food.  It probably won't affect the taste of my latte's either.  Mmmmmmm

  • Hi Guys!  We have been up to our eyebrows, as they say, in computering changes... new stuff, fixin' old stuff.... what a headache... WHAT A HEADACHE!!!!   Back & forth to store, ordering stuff, waiting for it..... another problem... etc., etc.    Whatever happened to the simple life?    Will write more later.... or rather earlier... as it is already too much later for this night.

But these are nice pictures of Joseph helping his daddy build their house and makes things seem better.

  • Good evening everyone!  It is a fine Saturday evening.  The kids have friends over... tall friends!  Any guesses???

Some of us are in physical repair mode.  That means we are in the process of healing after some affliction such as a cold for me; and some sort of flu thing for Tom.  We are hanging out alone (for the most part) so as not to share it with the other 14 people who live here nor their company.  So far, so good!

I was not going to attempt to attend the two (2) funerals scheduled for today, but my dear husband kind of insisted so we just kept away from eveyone as best we could for the first service, and then bailed on the 2nd.  We really wanted to attend both.  They were both radiant believers who had been taken home way before "their" time.  It is just a different thing when people have gone to be with their beloved Lord and you know Him too!  We all worshipped the Lord at the end of the service and it was really sweet, esp., cause the young woman (only 31 y/o) had chosen the songs herself.  Like "Enough" and "I Can Only Imagine".

Now for another great picture from the past..... anybody guess who this handsome fellow might be?  Hint:  He is quite the master these days with pizza preparations.

  • "Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live." - Oscar Wilde

Boy, am I feeling sick!  An upper respiratory thing.  Anyway, since I haven't been my usual "fun", to be around, self, this quote speaks to me very loudly to me.   Little snitty remarks, leave me alone.. that kind of stuff.  Yes, I have been quite selfish lately... and I have a very patient understanding husband.  Aren't you glad I haven't been expressing my selfish self to you here, well at least not too much!

On a positive note... we have had occasion to make up, more than once, which is fun....  but another positive note is below:

Guess who these people are?  Yep!!!  They are the parents of little Jack Ryan in the previous picture.  And they actually have created via their love for each other and the Lord two other special little people.  Hopefully I can get my hands on some quality pictures of those other little ones to post.

  • Here is another one of my all time favorites from a few years ago.... Jack Ryan as a 6 week old.  Don't you think this is contest material? Captions please??

  • Things are happening around here... but let me first tell you a couple things about yesterday.  I was in a fog yesterday.. I think I had my sister's teeth on my mind!

It started out by me drawing a silver container of distilled water to refill the espresso machine water tank.  I set it on the counter, while I was frothing the milk for Tom's latte.  After I got the pitcher of milk all nicely frothed, I set it on the counter beside the water container, I put the little shot pitcher beneath the shot  spout.  Then I turned the machine on it's built-in turntable so I can add the water to the water tank while the machine is doing three shots for me.  But for the first time in my latte making life... I poured the freshly frothed hot milk into the water tank because I wasn't looking and like I said was in a fog.   Immediately I saw the water turn white... and wow.  Boy was that latte good!!!!!!

The next thing I did was left my wallet at Costco somewhere.  Fortunately, I realized it only about 30 minutes later and knew where I had had it last.  When I went back... someone had turned it in.  I did happen to have a lot of money (which is rare) in it too!  Like $600 plus.  I was thanking the Lord cause I didn't deserve to find it and find it as I left it also.  Again, my sister's teeth!

Now here is something that turned out just right!!!  The new baby!  Anne

  • Here is another one of my favorite pictures!  This is the kids at one of their late night dance parties.

  • Sorry, I never did get back yesterday.

Prolific screenwriter and director Steven de Souza ran into a language problem when filming his first film in the 1990's. He was attempting to turn the popular video game "Street Fighter" into a movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme in Thailand. The film had countless scenes with hundreds of extras, many who were students and international tourists from more than a half-dozen countries. They all spoke different languages, from Dutch to Japanese. De Souza explained how they ultimately sped up the slow translation process while filming: "Finally we decided to direct them with numbered flashcards. One meant you were happy, 2 meant you were sad, and 3 meant get in your boat."

This little piece of information reminds me of the trip to the Mall with all the little boys.  Seems like we had five of them on this trip so to keep things simple, while in the car on the drive to the mall, they were instructed that when we said #1 that meant to be quiet, #2 meant to keep your hands to yourself, #3 meant to get close enough to touch me.  It worked wonderful and the kids had fun with it too!  They did real good, even the littlest ones.  Finally one of the little one's shouted #1 to Uncle Steve when he was talking about something.  That was really funny!

will be back to finish this a little later...until then... bless you.......

  • Good Day!  How are you all doing?  A couple of you blogged and the rest well......... I guess you are taking a break!

    New computer... fun, frustrating........

A couple more jobs done and things scratched off the list. Nothing much new to report.

Amazing how much talk about the game.  Seems to be agreement about the poor job done by the refs.

Guess I will include a picture here... just for fun.    This is Ryan after a birthday party.  This picture was on the front of his Thank You cards.
