Well, I got a lead on the Michael Angelo song. I have sent an email and when I hear back I will tell all right here. I was going to put the clip right on here, but I have misplaced my patch cord for my DVR (digital voice recorder). I just realized DVR also stands for digital ‘video’ recorder.
Rehearsal was fun. I am working on memorizing my lines. The difficult part for me is I automatically add words to my lines and even more difficult than that is the fact that my voice doesn’t carry very well, and if I work hard to project it or talk louder, I have a hard time getting the inflection in my voice to express the emotions of the lines I am quoting. Does that make sense? I do get to wear a lapel mic but if everyone else projects their voices and I sound like a screaming mouse, how well will that be? Another thing is, I feel sort of silly and keep thinking of funny things, which makes it hard not to break out laughing or giggling. I need the fruit of the spirit… self control!!!!

Today is a work day at the medical office. I get to do graphic printing jobs too for the office sometimes. They have offered to do some procedures on my face in exchange for my helping out. Like permanent makeup???? How would it be to wake up every morning with my eyeliner and lipstick firmly in place with no flakes or smears??? I wonder……… not sure if I will take them up on it, but it sounds nice for my older years when I am more shaky and can’t see very well, It is just that it is permanent… and what if fashion changes to bland eyelids? What’s a girl to do?

Uncle Tom took me out for a quick bite at a fast food place (BK) and then he drove a couple blocks to the river for our eating atmospheric pleasure and this is what we saw.
This was a little bit to the left of where we were parked.
This was right in front of us. I think he wondered why I was taking his picture.
He was hanging around hoping for a fry…. I gave him a piece of bun instead!

This is a picture of the moon last night while driving 70mph on the freeway.

About adding words to the lines – If modifying the lines (without changing the meaning) makes it feel more natural to you, then go with it. If the actor doesn’t feel the part, the audience won’t either. You have to find the intersection between your own personality and the character you’re playing to make it feel real - and then it will look real to the audience beacuse in a way it will be real, Not just reciting lines. That’s my acting tip for the day.
Congratulations of the part! I would love to hear the recording of you singing. Hopefully you could find the patch cord soon.
Ooooo, I would love to have permanent make up done to me. I would probably go for eyeliner and that’s it. My cousin has permanent eyeliner and lipliner done. I don’t really care for the lipliner thing though.
Oooh, laser peel my face, liposuction my chin, mini-lift my brow line, botox-poison the wrinkles on my forehead and between my brows… OK, maybe eyeliner, too! I’d have to do lots and lots of work for them, huh.
Yeah. And you can use that permanent makeup stuff to tattoo a macho buff guy six-pack cleavage on my tum tum.
Blogdad’s suggestion about adding words is OK if it’s alright with the director (he or she will let you know if it’s not.) Our director writes all the plays himself, and he likes us to say the words the way he wrote them as much as possible. Also, it’s important to deliver cues properly so the other people know what to do. I could tell some stories, but I don’t have time. Projection usually improves with experience and confidence. Keep at it! It’s kind of the same with breaking yourself up– it goes away as you get used to the material. The important thing is to memorize your lines as quickly as possible. When you go “off book” you can really start developing your character.
I hope this helps and I haven’t given you too much to think about. Performing onstage has always given me great joy, and I pray it wll do the same for you.
Now here are Suzanne’s opinions on permanent makeup:
Hi Autie Kathy,
You sound like a really neat lady. I hope that someday I get to meet you. I’ve been wanting to get my eyes and lips done for a long time. I’d want the entire lip done. What good is just liner — they would still bleed. I wouldn’t worry about ”bland eyelids” coming back into style — a classic look is always best. And at my age I buck trends. The tacky clothes that we wore in the 70s are back in style. Oh PUH LEEEZE!!!!
PROS: No constant touching up lips and checking eyeliner for smudging…save lots of time putting on makeup…no leaving lip prints on every cup I drink from (who knows how much lipstick I’ve consumed in my life?)…and most importantly I could kiss my husband with abandon ANY time I want to.
CONS: Tim has concerns about allergic reactions to the pigment…I am a regular blood donor and I would not be able to give blood for a year…What if they did my lips unevenly?…A friend of a co-worker had her lips done and the color changed – and she didn’t like the color it changed to.
Ask lots of questions and watch how other people’s faces turn out. I’d seriously consider it if I had the opportunity that you do. Anyway, that is my two cents worth. Have fun with your show. …..Suzanne
