This Necklace was given to me by the Egyptians to sell for them. Below is the story behind the necklace.

Owners Henry Edward White (Weiss) and Lida Ann ( nee Steward)
Description: Small gold and black pendant with pearl rabbits foot, fine twisted chain, possibly Egyptian origin. Given to Lida from Henry shortly after 1909.
Background for Henry Edward White (German = Weiss):
Born in Hull England, his uncle was Lord Mayor in England, his father was Surgeon General to the Kaiser in Germany and his mother was Lady in Waiting to the Kaiser. He had a sister named Amalie and a brother whose name was Emil. Henry’s parents were of Royal blood and he was raised in Germany. He had an extensive Naval career and traveled the world, when he became an American citizen on 1-7-1896 in San Francisco he changed his German name Weiss to White. He married Lida on 12-15-1909 in Saginaw Michigan. Henry died 11-21-1931.
Background for Lida Ann Steward:
Lida was born in Saginaw Michigan, her Father Alfred was very wealthy, he ran a lumber mill there. Alfred married Lenora Mero on 3-4-1874 in Plymouth Michigan, he as 24, she was 16.
Lida’s mother’s family was very involved in the Catholic Church, one great uncle of hers was a Cardinal (Cardinal Mero). Lida had two sisters, Pat and May (not sure of this name). Her cousin who was previously married (Mrs. Galt) married Woodrow Wilson. Lida died on 4-22-1956.
Henry and Lida had a child who died shortly after he was born, they adopted my mother when she was 12. Henry was very good friends with Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, they were on Navy vessels and served together. I have photos of them and of the Admiral’s family. Lida’s brother in law, Pat’s husband, had a big wholesale jewelry factory (not costume jewelry) in Vancouver. Lida owned many of his creations. Henry indulged Lida also with many whimsical and fine pieces from all over the world. My mother gave me history on where most of the important or interesting items came from or who they were from. My hand written notes indicate this was possibly from Egypt. There is also some interesting documentation on some old life insurance papers that indicate Lida belonged to a guild called the Ladies of the Modern Maccabees.
She was also president of the Women’s Guild of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church up to April of 1922.
