  • Here is something goofy

Notice I didn't say someONE goofy!  Here is dear sweet Nancy.    The thing that was goofy was that one hair standing straight up on the top of her head.    She was moving back and forth and talking and it just stuck straight up there.... so I got my camera out and took a picture and then I got to show it to her.  She didn't seem impressed tho'.

    Today's Thought of the Day

  • So, I have a friend......

.... and we all went out for dinner last night.  My friend mentioned she had read my blog and saw the pictures of the boys.  (She has known all these guys for about 28 years.)  Well, she tells me that Jeff isn't the only one that's smart.  (said very sweetly)  And so I have been thinking about this all night long in between sleeping.   I suppose there is a better way to describe each one.  They all are everything I said about each one individually, but I wanted to pick out one or two areas that I see in which that son is particularly gifted.

I said Jeff is smart because he has been gifted with a good memory.  You don't really want to play Trivial Pursuit with him.  And he did very good in college, graduating on the deans honor roll etc. This is not to say he has always applied this gift.  I remember telling him when he was about in 3rd grade, "to whom much is given, much is required!"  (I wonder if he remembers this?)    Now the other boys are smart too, but they are not gifted exactly the same way as Jeff.  As you know, Connie, the recent Birthday girl, is his wife and they have two sons, and they had a precious little girl who had a very short life.  She was born too early and only lived about 12 hours.  That was the saddest day of my life.

All the boys are hard workers, no slackers here or rather there!  But Thad is especially gifted that way.  He has been known to "forget" to eat all day when he is working on something.  Also, he has very high standards for his work and would do something over and over again to get it just right.  He is very generous also.  Thad is married to a very beautiful, gifted girl he met as a young man, while working at Nordstroms and they married and have two sons and a daughter.

All the boys are compassionate, tender hearted and kind, but Gregory is the one who has a special gift with kids.  It was Greg, five years old, who held his two day old sister for the first time and while gazing intently into her little newborn face, with deep, almost teary eyed sincerity, commented that he thought he loved her and wanted to marry her!  Now, in fact, they do live next door to each other today, but each has married another of course!  Greg and his wonderful wife have managed to create five little ones in about 8 years time.  And they have had opportunity to show that they are fabulous parents.

Now, I could go on and on about each person as I am amazed at the revealing of gifts I see.  God has placed these people in my life and I so appreciate each one.  We are all so unique and all so valuable too!  It is like the body of Christ, everyone gifted differently, everyone necessary.  I remember once, telling the Lord how envious I was of a girl who had been given a beautiful voice to sing to Him and I wished I could sing to Him that way.... and He told me that the gift intrusted to her was actually for me!  I said, "what?"  He explained that He was using her as a vessel to send me a gift of blessing!  Anyway so anytime I see someone who is gifted, I thank the Lord for blessing me and loving me so much.

In summary, I pray any gifts God has given, are a blessing for you and you can know how much God loves you because He has gifted someone to be a blessing to you!  And besides, "to whom much is given, much is required."

Well, I really have done a lot of talking here.  Did I make some sense?

  • The Frater Men

Ok... I admit it, I am biased, but these guys are so special.  I am not the only biased one, and there are other fellows I think highly of also, but I have these pictures to share so here goes.  I am gonna brag a little.

PS  If you wonder 'why three almost identical pictures of the Frater Men?'  That is because by doing several I am almost certain to get each guy with his eyes open at least once.

On the far left we have the dad, (my awesome husband and these guys role model for how to spoil a woman) next fireman, work really hard, Thad, then really smart, wise, Jeff, and loving, tender hearted, Greg.  Did I say, they really love their mom too?

  • Happy B-Day Connie

Update:  This was written 10/19/2007 in the AM before leaving for work, but XANGA would not upload it all day nor that night.

Today is Connie's B-Day.  She is one of my three daughter-in-laws.  She is awesome and beautiful, not to mention talented and gracious.  She is a very fine daughter-in-law because she is madly in love with my son.  This my only requirement for a daughter-in-law, other than being godly women.... they must be passionately in love with my sons.  They have all three done exceedingly well in this department.  I am well pleased.  I am blessed.  And so are my sons.

Here is this lovely Birthday Girl:

  • Now I Get It.......

My daughter enlightened me on the sideways video of Greg & Jen.  She took the video sideways as it seemed to fit better, then rotated it with some software before giving it to me.  So I guess when I uploaded the rotated video to YouTube, it returned it to it's original condition.  Sure glad that mystery is solved.  If things don't make sense it bugs me.

  • speaking of Rog & Mary.....

Mary sent this to me.  It is a man who was born without arms or legs.  It starts by showing pictures and telling about his growing up, then he comes on live and is very funny and an excellent speaker with a great life saving message.  Well, worth the watch.  I recommend.

  • Greg & Jen Doin' The Dance

This is for Roger & Mary.  Thanks for the fun toy!  Sorry it took me so long.  And I have no idea why this is sideways.  The only way I could up load it was YouTube and then it ended up sideways!  Weird.

  • Recovering from a cold and Oh how lovely.....

We went walking yesterday evening down at the Columbia River.  It was so lovely I got my camera out.  This first one was amazing cause I didn't know where those VEGGIE CHIPS came from but now I know.  They were all over the ground.  Doesn't it just look like those chips?  Mmmm good!

I thought of Missy Jill Carmel and took these.

So Joel says he didn't sleep all night.  I asked if he was worried about something.  He responded, "Yeah, I'm 42 years old now and still no wife!"

  • The Watch I Wanted That I didn't Want

This is Norma telling the story behind this watch.  Connie ended up with it and it does fit her little wrist after all.  The title will make sense I think after you hear her tell her story.

I was video taping this with my little camera and trying to be discrete so ever so often the camera drifts and only catches the mouth or chin or whatever.
