  • A Few to Get Started - Hope you Enjoy!!!

These are just a few of the old, old photos we have:  (I scanned them but didn't take the time to edit them.)

Bernice, Flossy, Katherine, & May 7-29-1913

This picture is dated July 29th, 1913.  This is Bernice, Flossy, Katherine, & Mary at Lake Park.  They would easily be over a hundred if still living today.  Perhaps they are sisters.  Their noses look similar.

Diving Board Over River - Old

This appears to be a homemade diving board over a river. (not dated)

    Girl from behind - old

I have no idea who this is, I just love the picture and know it is old.

    Four Girls

The second girl from left is Uncle Tom's great Aunt Jenny.

Model T or A???  I have no idea - just know it's old!

    Notice Couple in the middle

Notice the expressions on the couple in the middle - looks like there had been somethin going on when this picture was taken.

I wonder who this kid grew up to be???

  • Where do I start? Hello, Mr. Gingrich!!

It has been very busy and hectic in my life lately.  And it probably won't stop a whole lot this week either.  Sharalee is contracting.... it is early!  Curtis hurt his back last night and could not even walk into the house.  He had to crawl to the front door.  Carrina opened the door and said "Daddy, why aren't you standing up?" Curtis truck's waterpump went out yesterday too!  Today Thad & Jen come to drop off the kids at Greg & Jen's and Grandma & Grandpa are looking forward to getting to help with things.

Joel got home from Norway Friday afternoon.  He was on a cruise sitting watching a couple talking with each other, dancing, then talking some more, obviously in love.  Pretty soon the gentleman approached Joel and asked him questions like where he was from, etc.  When he finished, they went to shake hands, when Joel said, "It is nice to get to meet you Mr. Gingrich."  It was Newt and his wife.  Joel said that was the highlight of his trip.    I like Newt!!!!

After the estate sale on Saturday, we ran to the store to grab some turkey for sandwiches as we had not eaten all day, NO TIME!!!  Anyway, we made our sandwiches.  Tom gobbled his up real fast, I am slower.  Then he fell asleep on the couch while I was nibbling at mine.  I thought, well I will just let him sleep... he worked so hard... and I will go start getting stuff packed up out of the front yard as soon as I finish my sandwich.   I took my last bite, took a drink... Tom awoke suddenly, looked out the front and shouted.... it's raining!!!  We both jumped up and started running out the front door to get stuff pulled into the garage where it would be protected.  Fortunately the heavy couch sold and had just been picked up after we closed.

Uncle Steve was upstairs when it started pouring down and he ran downstairs only to find us gone.  In panic mode he ran outside, but I think was relieved to find us out there already.  He thought we were still gone and he was gonna have to do the job all by his lonesome.  Also, Curtis and Sharalee were driving by on their way to Walla, Walla to a concert, and they turned around even though it would make them late and came back to give us a hand.

The weatherman had said 20%  chance of rain... but it poured really hard.  Like the cups, ice cube trays had so much water in them, I had to dump each one of them out.  The clothes were damp, some soaked.  Tom had gotten the left over vintage clothing put in first.  We got rid of a lot of stuff the first day and had about 1/3 as many the second.  Our three car garage is full of stuff drying out.

I have a couple of pictures of the stuff on the porch, but I didn't even "think" to take pictures earlier and by this time so much was already gone.  Here they are:

Estate Sale Porch1.jpg Estate Sale Porch2.jpg

The front yard had many tables also, plus some shelves with stuff on them.  The stove did not sell although it had quite a few admirers looking it over.  We sold the one treadle sewing machine cabinet easily, two beautiful wood Anheimer (sp) Bush boxes with hinged lids immediately and other stuff which of course made me think I priced them too low.  The White sewing machine in cabinet from about 1927 didn't sell.  I am thinking about changing locations and going again next weekend.  I will check my sources this morning and then I will know if it is all going to be donated.  Enough for now.... lots of pictures... lots of them.... to come.  No silly, not of the estate sale!!!

  • Pictures coming... hopefully you will enjoy them.... old, some.... really old.

  • Taking a Little Break....

    ....estate sale prep.

Here is an awesome experience I had a couple years ago.

Received a call, person asked for Kathy.  I said, "yes, this is me!"  Then she started talking about all her problems... I didn't know who it was but thought maybe it was a patient from Dr. C's office and I had given her my number.  I thought I might be able to figure out who it was but since my good friend and prayer partner was here I put the phone on speaker so she could hear too.  The person on the other end of the phone then said, "You don't sound like yourself!".  I said,  "Well, frankly I have been trying to figure out who you are".  It turned out to be a wrong number.   Ended by telling her we would pray for her and she asked what church we go to.  When I told her she asked it I knew a specific person there, which I did.  She got all teary and we said goodbye.  Later that night she called to say how much calling a wrong number that morning had helped her.    I was amazed at the Lord.

  • Could you help me, please?

It took me a while to get this and now I need your help.  I tried to copy all the words but I am not "POSITIVE" I got them all correct.  So if you could listen to it and see if any are wrong... I would appreciate it.

PS Have been busy preparing for an estate sale.  It is a whole lot of work but I have found some pretty awesome stuff.  For example, there are cool pictures from the 1912, 1913, the 20's, 30's and 40's.  There are some postcards from that era also.  Some vintage clothes, dishes, and glassware.

  • Earworms

I just thought you should all know about the following important subject.

You'll know that drug companies have finally gone too far when they produce a drug that treats a common condition known as earworm.

Fortunately there's already a natural method for extracting an earworm. Although I have to admit this therapy has its drawbacks.

You have an earworm when a song gets stuck in your head and goes round and round and just won't stop. You hear an advertising jingle on the radio and it stays with you for an hour, or two, or all day. That's an earworm.

Believe it or not, a study of earworms (also known as "stuck song syndrome") was presented at a meeting of the Society for Consumer Psychology. Professor James J. Kellaris, Ph.D., of the University of Cincinnati, enrolled more than 550 subjects to find out how pervasive earworms are, what sorts of tunes are the most likely to stick, and how to get rid of them.

Only two percent of the study group reported no experience with earworms. So almost all of us occasionally succumb to this condition.

According to the study, popular songs that get stuck in heads most often include "YMCA," "It's a Small World After All," and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."

Great. Now I have all THREE of those stuck in my head.

The best way to get rid of an earworm is to think of another song and run that one over a few times in your head. Of course, this "therapy" creates a very high risk of developing a new earworm. But better to have an earworm of your choice than a tune that advertises next-day carpet installation.

My apologies if I just gave you an earworm. To Your Good Health,   Jenny Thompson (copied from HSI, Health Science Institute, Newsletter)

    Bus BarberShop

This is a local barber shop that gives quality cuts.  The owner is a writer, musician, singer, & drummer not to mention the giver of great hair cuts.  Not to say he "gives" them away, but you know what I mean.  It is my brother's barber and if I wasn't Tom's very own personal barber, I would approve of him going here.
