WE LOVE YOU!!!

This is Mrs. Fred P. Freeman. She was in favor of women having the vote and prohibition! She was known for putting her heart and soul into her work with the WCTU, the Red Cross and the Christian Endeavor Society. Her mercy lead her to the Portland Prison System where she sought to befriend ex-convicts and reintroduce them into society by helping them find work and a place to stay. While she was away in Portland, Mr. Clarence Johnson, recently released from prison, burglerized her home. She was beaten to death with a blunt piece of iron gas pipe in August of 1919.
This lady, Georgine Luelloff, was just sittin' in the Cemetary crocheting and talking with her beloved daughters, who were both stilborn only 11 months apart. She still grieves their loss even though she died in January 1916.
This is John Godfried Streyfeller. He died in 1941. He was injured as a child and was known for his limp. He never married and owned the Richland Harness Company.
My favorite lady in the Cemetary, Ida Lindskog. She had a wonderful Swedish accent, and cute sense of humor. Ida farmed along with her husband and she taught school in the Horse Heaven Hills area here. Her son, Elmer, was killed in action during the First World War. I found her delightful. She died in May 1933.
Above see the Grimm Reaper or Ripper... one of them. ![]()
Tombstone without bodies. Young men who died during battle in France in 1918 & 1919. "War drew us from our homeland in the sunlit springtime of our youth. Those who did not come back alive remain in perpetual springtime -- forever young -- and a part of them is with us always." --author unknown
We enjoyed the afternoon with Mark & Lisa plus had a delicious dinner at Anthony's down by the river.
Our new car... the door unlocks when I touch the handle... I am so spoiled!!!
Took it easy this morning, but the laundry needs to be done and I need to do some serious cooking. Here's a little look at the Dinner Theatre from Friday & Saturday nights.
Mrs. Winklestein (before costume giving Uncle Tom the EYE)
Mrs. Winklestein (old retired kindergarten teacher wearing Auntie Norma June's dress)
Note: Sharalee helped me "ROUND" out my character with pillows.
Mrs. Winklestein (post play diet Sunday Morning) Several people actually commented on my rapid weight loss at church yesterday.
(I am wearing Norma June's scarf here. I really like it.)
Cast Members (the youngins - they made it so much more fun)
The Frinks below just aren't any fun!!! ![]()
We went to Israel together and they didn't recognize me in costume!!! Ha, ha!
Mrs. Winklestein dancing with Boy Scout (another cast member)
Hazel (cast member) with her real life Mom & Aunt
"Uncle Phil" of Uncle Phil's Diner & real life wife (one of the play Directors)
Flodene (Cast Member, made sure people minded their manners)
Below is the Stage from afar with "The Greasy Spoons" band et. some
Actually it amazed me at how many people didn't recognize me in costume. I got a big laugh out of it. But one of the best comments I got was e-mailed to me from an old friend it said, "Katherine dear,.........You were simply wonderful in the production last night. John and I laughed so hard at you, I am sure you added at least 5 years to our life span.... Thanks for sharing your gifts with us!!!!!! hugs....XOX" That made all the nervousness and stress and busy-ness worthwhile. It is fun to make people laugh! It is fun to shock people in a good way too!
I am gonna try to load a little of Uncle Phil singing, "Blue Suede Shoes" with the Greasy Spoons Band backing him up. He reminds me of Popeye!
It actually uploaded!!!
This was at rehearsal, he did a great job, everyone improving with each performance!
... Well, just wanted to let you all know that I am not doing too much here this week due to the fact that I am in a Dinner Theater. I play an old retired kindergarten teacher who is one of the guests on a tv show, "this is my life!" or "this is your life"... whatever the name is... anyway.. lots of rehearsing, getting costumes together and making buttons.
Next week perhaps I will have some pictures. It is kind of fun getting to play a part where the person is a little "off", doesn't hear well, and gets to totally lose it to such an extreme that two guys have to escort you forcefully off the stage. At least I got to nix the part where I am thrown over a big guys shoulder and carried out!
The director gives me so freedom to add to my lines too!
Lots of fun and a bit nerve racking all at the same time.
PS It is to help fund a mission trip to China... so it is a good cause too! Bye for now
We were out of town this last weekend. We went to Spokane to visit our two sons and families up there. We spent the morning with our son, the Fireman, and his wife, two sons, and one daughter. We visited at their house, then went out for lunch.
I got such a kick out of their youngest son, Dru, because he was objecting to going out for lunch... his reason, "nobody can cook as good as mom!". ![]()
Then for the afternoon we went up to our son, the Medman, and his wife, and two sons. We visited at their house, then went out for dinner. Both boys went with us, even the almost 19 year old.
We had to wait for a seat for so long, we walked to a "World Market" to kill some time. It was kinda cool for me. It is generally about 10 degrees cooler up there than here.
Jeff asked us to go to the movie FIREPROOF with them, which we would have loved to do but it would have made our drive home be extremely late, as it was.. we didn't get home until after 10:30 PM due to the extremely long wait for a table. That's late when your normal bedtime is 8:30PM.
... but I wanted to tell you that I read that Kirk Cameron will only kiss his wife, so in the movie FIREPROOF she was the "stand-in" for the scene that involved some romance. The report said it was extremely romantic and you could not tell it was not the "leading lady" in the movie.... but then obviously, Kirk Cameron's wife really is his "leading lady"!!! ![]()
Once again, it is just always hard to say "goodbye" but we are only about 2.5 hours away. PS I left my camera at home.... sorry!!!
EDIT #2: Additional Info for anyone who is interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_cricket
EDIT: I am so embarrassed! This is a Jerusalem Cricket not a "Beetle" as it says below.
Uncle Tom told me when I was telling our eldest son and his wife about it and called it a "Beetle". Sorry! I hate to give out wrong information!
......This is a Jerusalem "Cricket" Curtis found outside.
Curtis insisted I be nice to him and photograph him.
Steve identified it with his trusty bug book.
He is pictured with a nickel in the last picture so you can see his size better.
This was a catch and release event.
No Beetles (or Crickets) were injured in the making of these pictures.
