From China last night
When I got home last night there was an e-mail from Bonnie.
Note: If you recall, she was one of the directors of "Uncle Phil's Diner" play, which was a fund raising event for their mission trip to China. They left for China on November 1, 2008.
This was my first communication from China. Ok... this made me laugh right out loud! First the picture.
While working at an orphanage there in China. They were playing around with the kids and Jeff (pictured above) picked up one of the little boys to give him a piggy back ride. Well, his leg fell off! Yes, you read that right! Bonnie reports that after they all got done laughing, they had a little talk with Jeff. They suggested he not dismantle anymore of the children!
It is my understanding the Chinese government controls when they are allowed to have heat. The date for turning on the heat is November 15th. The problem is it is rather cold over there, only getting up to around 60 during the day. But another rule of the government is that before they turn on the heat the cost for the whole season must be paid up front. The orphanage had some medical needs for the kids so they tapped their heat funds to meet those needs.
Our Country is amazing!

the little boy or Jeff's leg?
being a nurse I know what you mean about laughing about it.
@jillcarmel - the little boy's leg fell off, that is why they had the talk with Jeff about not dismantling any more of the children.
I should have said these children are disadvantaged, usually physically handicapped.
@AuntieKathy - yes, I see.
That is funny how things get lost in the translation....ryc, thanks for your comments too....Mike
